Welcome to Sprituality at Sea!
How it all began..
In 2000 Deirdre Hanna and her husband Rev. Dr Ian Mavor started the first ‘Wellness on Wheels’ Tours in South East Queensland after studying Mindfulness Meditation in Mt Madonna, California. Ian and Deirdre then spent many years in their monthly group meetings called Exploring Spirituality at Hopewell Hospice. In particular they were informed by works of Ken Wilber, one of the world’s most renowned philosophers. Ken Wilber is the developer of an integral theory of everything that embraces truths and different perspectives from the world’s great psychological, scientific, philosophical and spiritual traditions.
After Ian’s death in 2015, Deirdre started the ‘Wellness on Waves’ Cruises, with participants learning mindfulness meditation, including other forms of stress reduction exercise, laughter therapy and the benefits of travelling in community.
Recently the first ‘Spirituality at Sea’ cruises began, as a Retreat at Sea, travelling to South Pacific Islands on the Carnival Luminosa.
In November 2023, Integral Spirituality at Sea will draw on insights from Integral Life Practice and what Spirituality means to us in the 21st Century. This will be an 8-day retreat on the lovely Royal Caribbean Ship, Quantum of the Seas and references will be drawn from Integral Life Practice, a 21st Century Blueprint for Physical Health, Emotional Balance, Mental Clarity and Spiritual Awakening, by Ken Wilber, Terry Patten, Adam Leonard & Marco Marelli. Integral Books, 2008.
Spiritual Practice is about waking up and realising Spirit in the midst of ordinary life, as well as growing up through inner work, showing up through service and compassion in the world and cleaning up. On this retreat with fun company there will be plenty of opportunities to find out what ‘cleaning up’ means!
We will have wonderful accommodation, all meals, entertainment and time to do small group learning in the morning and again with drinks before dinner. We will explore concepts of spirituality and also practice them, to both nurture and challenge you to live more consciously and happily by embracing the life giving qualities of Spirit.
